Outstanding Achievement Award


The Board of Directors has established an Outstanding Achievement Award to present to an active member, as defined in the Constitution of this Association. The Board of Directors will give the award to a nominee who, in the Boards opinion and judgment, has made a significant and valuable contribution in the area of Forensic Science and has provided outstanding service to the Pacific Northwest Division of the International Association for Identification. For consideration, I hereby nominate (Nominee must be a current, two-year member of the PNWD-IAI.

Membership of the Association shall consist of Active, Life Active, Associate, Honorary and Student members. Application for membership shall conform to the provision as set forth in the By-Laws

Active Membership of the Association consists of heads of Bureaus of Identification or Investigation (including persons under their supervision who are engaged in the Science of Identification). heads of Police Departments, Chiefs of Detectives and Sheriffs: PROVIDED, HOWEVER, that the foregoing persons are bona fide employees of and receive salaries from national, state, courty or municipal governments, or some subdivision thereof. Any active member shall not lose his/her active status because of retirement or change of position as long as he/she remains in good standing.

Live Active Membership is limited to:

a. All Active Members of the Association who have paid their membership dues and assessments for the past twenty-five years continuously, or

b. All Past Presidents of the Association. The Past President must notify the Secretary in writing, stating that active participation in the Science of Identification as an employee of a government agency has ceased.

A Certificate of Life Active Membership will be offered those members and annually, membership cards will be issued which indicate Life Active Membership.

Life Active members shall be eligible to vote and be entitled to all the privileges of an Active Member, and shall be excused, during their lifetime, from the payment of dues and any assessments not including registration fees to workshops or the seminars which are generally associated with the regular annual meetings or that may be special events.

Associate Membership:

All reputable persons, wholly or partially engaged in ay of the various phases of the Science of Identification, and who are not qualified for Active Membership are hereby eligible to become Associate Members; they shall, in all respects, be subject to the same rights and privileges as Active Members, except that they shall not be entitled to election to any Association Office.

Affiliate Membership:

Affiliate Members shall consist of reputable business organizations that are interested in furthering the objectives of this Association. The annual fee for Affiliate Membership shall be $25.00 per annum, payable in advance.

Honorary Membership:

Honorary Membership of this Association shall consist of persons who have performed some particular service for the Association or who have in some way done some conspicuous thing for law enforcement. Such person or persons, upon motion of any member in good standing, may be elected by the Board of Directors or by the Association in Conference assembled, to Honorary Membership for a period of one year and be excused from the payment of dues and assessment. They shall not be eligible to vote or hold office.

Student Membership:

Student Membership shall consist of all persons who are full-time college students (12-18 semester/quarter credit hours) at an accredited college with a major in law enforcement and/or forensic science related field. They shall not be eligible to vote or hold office.

Only Active and Life Active Members, in good standing, at the time of their election to office residing within the Association geographic boundaries shall be eligible to become Officers of the Association.
